Mike O’Keefe is a Senior Project Manager with Certrec’s Office of Licensing and Compliance Team. He is a 33 year nuclear veteran with experience in Licensing issues, regulatory affairs, license amendment requests, emergency planning, security, and inspection preparation. Before joining Certrec in 2013, Mike worked for NextEra Energy for 30 years. He served as NextEra Energy’s Seabrook Station Licensing Manager from 2006 to 2013. As Licensing Manager, Mike was responsible for ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements associated with operating the power plant. Leveraging automation technologies and web services, he significantly increased Licensing efficiency, especially in the areas of inspection management.
In year’s prior, Mike served as Senior Reactor Operator – rising to Supervisor of Seabrook’s Engineering Programs and Safety Engineering groups. As Licensing Engineer, Mike was instrumental in developing many of Seabrook’s License Amendment Requests.
As a Certrec Senior Project Manager, Mike is responsible for acting as the point of contact for his assigned plants, ensuring that each site is using Certrec’s suite of tools effectively and assisting the site in resolving inspection issues and responding to regulatory questions. Mike also manages the interface with RUGs I and IV.
