Last month, we asked our audience: What does NERC standard BAL-001 ensure? Overall, the most voted answer was Frequency Control, with 72 percent of the vote. In second place, Cyber Resilience received 14 percent. Finally, both Facility Ratings and Nuclear Licensing tied with seven percent of the vote each.

The correct answer is Frequency Control. NERC standard BAL-001 requires Balancing Authorities to maintain real-time balance between generation and load to support reliable Bulk Electric System operations.
