Craig Maxson is a Senior Project Manager with Certrec’s Office of NERC Compliance Services team. He has more than 30 years of experience in commercial nuclear operations, compliance, regulatory affairs, audit preparation, mock audits, cyber security, and emergency operations.
Before joining the Office of NERC Compliance team, Craig held several supervisory, oversight, and engineering positions at Seabrook, Fermi II, and River Bend nuclear stations. Through his involvement with the construction and operation of commercial nuclear plants, he has gained expertise in corrective action, human performance, work planning, quality assurance, training, plant operations, licensing, project scheduling, and outage management. During his last nine years at Entergy, Craig focused on NERC, FERC, and general compliance issues. He also successfully coordinated two NERC audits involving more than 70 subject matter experts performed simultaneously at two locations.
Craig also was responsible for identifying, assessing, and tracking general (non-NERC) compliance risks for fossil generation, hydro, and transmission business units. He coordinated the performance of risk assessments for high-risk processes and the development of policies, procedures, directives, and compliance manuals.
While working at River Bend, Craig led a human performance team that created the STAR self-checking concept, which became standard practice both within and outside of the nuclear industry.
Craig earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute. He enjoys spending time with his wife and traveling in their RV. They often take trips to visit their two children.
