Mike O’Keefe is a Senior Project Manager with Certrec’s Office of Licensing and Compliance team. He is a 35-year nuclear veteran with experience in licensing issues, regulatory affairs, license amendment requests, emergency planning, security, and inspection preparation. Before joining Certrec in 2013, Mike worked for NextEra Energy for 30 years. He served as NextEra Energy’s Seabrook Station Licensing Manager from 2006 to 2013. As Licensing Manager, Mike was responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements associated with operating the power plant. Leveraging automation technologies and web services, he significantly increased licensing efficiency, especially in the area of inspection management. Before then, Mike served as Senior Reactor Operator, rising to Supervisor of Seabrook’s Engineering Programs and Safety Engineering groups. As Licensing Engineer, Mike was instrumental in developing many of Seabrook’s License Amendment Requests.
As a Certrec project manager, Mike is the point of contact for all plants in the Entergy North, NextEra Energy, PSEG, and Susquehanna fleets. In addition to ensuring that each site is using Certrec’s suite of tools effectively, he assists them in resolving inspection issues and responds to regulatory questions. Mike also serves as the Region I Utility Group lead.
