Certrec, a leading regulatory compliance solution provider, is pleased to announce its participation in NuScale’s efforts to bring its unique, scalable, small modular reactor design to Canada. Certrec recently performed the initial technical editing on four of NuScale’s Vendor Reactor Design Reports. NuScale made its submittal combined Phase 1 and 2 level vendor design review (VDR) submittal to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) on December 10, 2019.

“Our work with Certrec has been invaluable to NuScale’s vendor design review submittal,” said NuScale Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Tom Bergman. “We are pleased to have such a strong partner in Certrec as we move forward to bring our safer, scalable, and cost-competitive SMR technology to Canadian customers.”

Working within the Taktix® platform, Certrec performed the initial technical editing, processed document changes under the advisement of the NuScale team, and prepared the final submittal documents ahead of the expected deadline.

“Our relationship with the NuScale team continues to grow,” stated Brett McLain, Certrec’s Electronic Documents Manager. “We are excited by the challenges they bring and in being a part of their team.”

Certrec’s TAKTIX® web-based project collaboration tool, technical editing assistance, and efficient teamwork with NuScale personnel enabled the documents to be finalized for submittal ahead of the commitment NuScale had made to the CNSC.

“NuScale’s SMR design is generating widespread interest,” said Michelle Thomas, Certrec Executive Director of Operations. “We are proud to support NuScale’s innovative growth process.”

Certrec’s large-document processing services are in demand. The company currently is involved in several DCA/DCD/COLA projects as well as supporting the ongoing maintenance of several plant UFSARs.
