FORT WORTH, Texas August 20, 2020

Certrec, a leading regulatory compliance solution provider, recently assisted NuScale in completing a second submittal to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) for a pre-licensing Vendor Design Review of its small modular reactor design.

Certrec’s Office of New Plant provided electronic document processing and technical editing services for the Vendor Reactor Design Reports. The 13 documents involved comprised more than 850 pages, each going through multiple revisions as the content was updated through NuScale’s review and approval processes.

“It was quite a challenge to juggle all of the different pieces,” commented Electronic Documents Manager, Brett McLain. “I am proud of our team. Once again they put their best effort in and were able to complete the submittal ahead of schedule.”

Certrec previously supported NuScale’s Design Certification Application and its four subsequent revisions, providing technical editing assistance and document processing services to manage and control the online, electronic processing of changes to their DCA as well as Requests for Additional Information (RAIs).

“Certrec has and continues to be central to our success, innovation, and flexibility while we work to adopt a licensing platform for Canada,” said Carrie Fosaaen, NuScale Manager of International Regulatory Affairs.

Certrec’s large-document processing services are in demand. The company currently is involved in several DCA/DCD/COLA projects as well as supporting the ongoing maintenance of several plant UFSARs.
