Certrec and IBM will help to simplify business operations through digitization, robotics, and AI.
Through this alliance, both Certrec and IBM will continue to work towards improving resiliency, responsiveness, and reliability for utilities.
In Certrec’s webinar with IBM, Nancy Greco, and Kay Murphy discussed working with Boston Dynamics’ Spot. With advancements in AI, edge computing, and robotics, there have been breakthroughs that are improving worker safety and enabling robots, like Spot, to perform tasks that human beings do not want to do in difficult or dangerous situations. This advanced technology protects humans from such jobs and it also improves efficiency and consistency in the results. Certrec was able to hold a discussion and get insights from IBM executives who have been directly involved in the development of this technology.
In IBM’s white paper, they discuss the core performers’ model that offers to build a sustainable utility of the future. Their goal is to intelligently integrate, organize, and manage sources of renewable energy generation, which requires them to quickly assess and respond to real-time grid conditions. The motivation is to increase transmission reliability, allow for increases in demand, and provide a greater degree of security for utilities.
