Certrec Corporation Supports Toshiba through MPR Associates Successful DCD Revision Submittal to the NRC

Toshiba ABWR Revision 1 Accepted By NRC (for review) on First Submittal with No Electronic Errors

Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) July 17, 2012 — Certrec, a leading regulatory compliance solution provider, is pleased to announce the completed electronic processing and preparation of the Toshiba ABWR Design Control Document (DCD) Revision 1 for submission to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

Toshiba has been revising its ABWR design to help support the South Texas Project (STP) unit 3&4 COLA efforts and hopes to market their design both in the US and abroad.

“Processing a DCD electronically is tough under any circumstances. When you combine the NRC requirements, our geographical differences, and the amount of work to be done, at times it almost seems impossible,” says Ted Enos, Certrec President. “Using our web-based TAKTIX platform, PDF commenting tools, and electronic submittal preparation, packaging and pre-flight solutions to help streamline the process, the initial Toshiba submission was accepted by the NRC. I am quite proud of our staff for this significant achievement.”

The Toshiba submittal marks Certrec’s ninth consecutive electronic submittal accepted by the NRC on the first submittal with no electronic errors. In September 2007, Certrec processed the STP34 original COLA application, which was the first electronic COLA submission under the new Part 52 licensing process and has subsequently processed eighteen additional submittals.

Certrec’s New Reactor licensing services are in demand. The company is currently involved in three new plant sites and three Design Control Document renewals and applications.
