Nuclear Expert Jim Peschel Joins Certrec’s Office of Licensing & Compliance (OLC) Team

Noted Nuclear Licensing and Compliance Professional to Help Expand Certrec's Expertise and Support of OLC Clients.

Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) May 08, 2012 — Certrec, a leading regulatory licensing and compliance solutions provider, is pleased to announce that veteran nuclear expert, Jim Peschel, has joined Certrec’s Office of Licensing & Compliance (OLC) Team. Certrec’s OLC provides nuclear licensing professionals with support services, analysis, information, and data helping them better manager the regulatory process to their advantage.

“New plant efforts, license extensions, power uprates, industry events, and environmental considerations are constantly driving change in the licensing process,” says Ted Enos, Certrec CEO. “A large percentage of experienced nuclear professionals are reaching retirement age. As such, Certrec’s OLC becomes an essential support service to help replace lost expertise and to support ever-shrinking licensing and compliance staffs.”

“We are excited that such a noted nuclear licensing expert as Jim Peschel has chosen to join Certrec. His 30 plus years of broad regulatory experience in such areas as diverse as the Regulatory Oversight Process (ROP), Emergency Planning (EP), and Quality Assurance (QA) will greatly enhance Certrec’s pool of expertise and its ability to further support our customer’s regulatory needs,” Enos notes.

Jim Peschel brings more than 33 years of nuclear reactor engineering, operations, inspection, and licensing experience to Certrec at both the site and fleet levels. A 29-year veteran of NextEra Energy companies, Jim was involved in all aspects of regulatory licensing and compliance across 8 units at 5 sites. A former ROP Task Force member, Jim’s expertise extends across Operational Quality Assurance to Corrective Action programs to NRC reactor inspection. He has substantial experience in the regulatory recovery area including plants on the Watch List, Manual Chapter 0350 and 9500x inspections, and substantive cross-cutting issue closure.

As Senior Project Manager of the Office of Licensing and Compliance services, Mr. Peschel will provide licensing guidance for Certrec clients NextEra, PSEG, and Regional Utility Group 1 (RUG1). “There is so much change going on in licensing and compliance today that licensing managers can’t keep up,” says Jim Peschel. “Certrec provides the intelligence that helps licensees stay abreast of changes as the NRC constantly strives to improve the regulatory process in reaction to industry events.”

“Certrec’s OLC Team helps licensees manage the licensing and compliance process to their advantage,” says Enos. “Our OLC Team is comprised of extraordinary expertise. Jim Peschel joins Al Haeger, Mark Reidmeyer, and Laurie Lahti, who have over 100 combined years of plant and regulatory experience, ranging from construction, start-up, quality assurance, and engineering support to licensing and regulatory compliance.”

“Al, Mark, Laurie, and Jim are supported by Tom Houghton, former Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) Senior Director, and Guy Bruner, former Institute of Nuclear Operations (INPO) Director, who lead Certrec’s Office of Performance Improvement,” Enos noted. “Backed by our daily reporting of what’s going on in licensing, compliance, industry events, and analysis of NRC rulings, licensing professionals can focus their time on targeted information helping solve the Too Much Information (TMI) problem.”
